So here we are again fast approaching the end of the year and the beginning of 2019. This has been a year that even Las Vegas couldn't have predicted in their gambling parlors. We wound up with a president that none of us could have imagined. He has done "stuff" that again, none of us would have thought could happen. So has this been good or bad?
Frankly.....no idea. If you're a Republican, I guess you would say, "He's great!". If a Democrat, one might say, "He's a total disaster!!". Would he have been elected without social media disruption? What would the world be like today if Trump wasn't elected? I don't know. However, if we follow our thought processes internally, we will see and sense our own personal distortions and biases in our own thinking. We will see how we block out opposing viewpoints to those we have formulated over time
resulting in cognitive processes that are not overly accurate and perhaps may be borderline dysfunctional.
We really believe our thinking is accurate and others are wrong as we have done our research of the facts available and have come up with our certainly accurate conclusions. Have we? Frankly, during the Supreme Court hearings, I shut the volume off as each individual was questioned and just watched their expressions. Sometimes deleting the facts from our consciousness and witnessing how the facts have affected those beings interviewed, can be more revealing and bring us closer to the "truth." The facts can have the ability to bring us back to our historical thinking bringing our actions back to the repetitive loop.
What I do honestly feel and believe, however, is that everything happens for a reason. Much of the populace has been sound asleep but awakened by the Trump presidency. Many were so insulted by him they started to pay attention to the political
scene where so much nonsense has gone on for decades, not caused by any one particular official. Politics has been about graft and corruption since I can remember. As soon as representatives and senators are elected, they have to walk down one or two blocks from congress to buildings that are used where they can start fund raising immediately. It's illegal for them to do this sort of thing in our hallowed halls of congress. It must be done outside, hence, the necessary walk down the street where they become telemarketers. Then they can't stop or they won't get re-elected. Great system ain't it?.......and we criticize other countries!!?? (And of course, there are quality politicians who have been able to penetrate this nonsense and get things done but they are sadly in the minority.)
If nothing else, this past year has been a great year for all of us to think about what it was that really "made our country great" in the first place. The pilgrims came here to escape
religious persecution and hopefully find out what freedom is all about. (I have to add that my granddaughter at 15 1/2 years old became the youngest pilgrim at Plimouth Plantation in Plymouth, MA. It was her clearly focused mind and relentless perseverance that made it happen and she did it on her own. And yes, Plimouth was the original spelling of Plymouth.)
Guess what? That's what we all need more of these days. You want something? Go for it. Nike got it right!! "Just do it!!" We all sit around talking about one thing or another while others get off their rear ends and just do it. Then we can adjust as we move forward and make the necessary corrections. We must get away from being "stuck caused by our own internal fears." So let's make 2019 the year of "doing." This, however, must be preceded by "being" as that provides the source of energy and focus we need to make our "doing" effective, meaning that our "doing" must be consummated at the highest levels of ethics
and morals along with the required extraordinary levels of efficiency. :-) Wow!! That sounds like a novel idea.....ethics and morals?????...hmmmm. :-)
Have a great year and I look forward to working with you all once again.
"These kids are nuts today.
I got a kid myself, 10 years old. He's going to be 11 if I let him."
"A drunk walked into court. The Judge said, " My good man, you've been brought in for drinking." The drunk said, "All right Judge, let's get started."
A guy went into the barbershop and said, "I want my hair cut so that it's all different lengths round the front and back, there's a strange spiky bit on top and bald patches here, here and here."
"I don't think I can do that," said the barber.
"Why not?" "You did last time I was here!"
O'Flaherty was walking along the road when he saw a sign outside Murphy's house. It read, "boat for sale."
"What's this sign all about Murphy" asked O'Flaherty? 'You haven't got a boat. All you've got is a tractor and a trailer."
"That's right," said Murphy, "and they're boat for sale."
